On a Tuesday morning, in July 2019, I woke up with this knowing: the two book ideas I had been tinkering around with for months were not two separate books after all, but components of the same book.

Almost immediately an itch developed underneath my skin... a prompting from such deep parts of me that I was uncomfortable trying to contain it. The book HAD TO get out of me.

I organized life feverishly for the following 24 hours. On Thursday morning that week I woke up and left the house at 5am, took the ferry to Mayne Island, entered my sister's empty home, and I wrote and wrote and wrote. I only took breaks to pee, make tea, dance around and cry. I wrote all Thursday, into the night, slept a few hours, repeated it all Friday, and by Saturday early afternoon, my book was complete.

I closed my computer and went for run, singing Beyonce at the top of my lungs, feeling proud and accomplished and exhausted and blessed. Then I came back, packed my bags and returned home on the ferry, and went about life as usual.

The majority of my book, Conscious Grieving: The Path of Awakening Through Loss was written on those beautiful 2 days that July. I then spent the next year waiting for the right alignment with publishers to move this spirit-lead project forward and in May 2020, in the midst of a pandemic and a surge of grief being experienced by the global family, I could no longer wait. I had to find a way for this book to make it out into the world. (Shout out to The Self Publishing Agency!)

Since May 2020, I have worked tirelessly to bring this work into the world in the way that it will best serve its readers. With a deep value for excellence, I worked with the best team to complete this work, and find the path of making it now available to readers.
